June 2024

NABOR is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating gun violence in our communities throughout Los Angeles. We strive to heal and improve the overall health, well-being, and safety of our communities.

We created this organization in memory of Nabor Galvez.

June is Gun Violence Awareness Month

National Gun Violence Awareness Day is observed on the first Friday in June, where supporters wear orange to honor the victims of gun violence. The recognition originated in honor of Hadiya Pendleton, who was shot and killed on a playground in Chicago in 2013. Each day, over 300 individuals in the United States are directly affected by gun violence. Gun Violence Awareness Month was established to highlight this devastating issue and advocate for critical, life-saving reforms. Click HERE to learn more.

Have you been impacted by gun violence? Consider sharing your story. In the face of challenges and adversity, stories can heal, inspire, and spark change. By sharing your story, you not only contribute to a collective understanding of the impact of gun violence but also provide solace and strength to those who may be going through similar struggles. Your story has the potential to inspire change by shedding light on the urgent need for effective prevention measures and support systems. We invite members of our community to share their thoughts, experiences, and ideas on gun violence prevention. Your voice and story matter!

In future newsletters, we hope to feature personal stories that create a platform for open dialogue and foster a sense of solidarity in Los Angeles. For now, learn about other people’s story here: https://momentsthatsurvive.org/
